Horizons AGM

Horizons held a very successful and well attended annual general meeting on the 11 of May in Trinity Community Initiatives venue.

Horizons chairperson Brian Anderson welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced the guest speakers. These were Barry McGale, Western Health and Social Care Trust Suicide Liaison Officer, who gave a detailed presentation on the Journey through the 'Maze of Suicide' and Mary from CRUSE also talked about how families might benefit from the services CRUSE have available.

Brian then spoke of the reality of suicide in the greater Lisburn area and about the work of Horizons during the past year, highlighting especially the establishing of the Horizon fortnightly drop in meetings for members of the public. Brian informed the meeting of a range of forthcoming events which have been planned by Horizons, emphasizing that any new members would be welcome at any of these events. The chairperson on behalf of the committee also recorded their thanks to the South Eastern Trust and to The Mayor and Lisburn City Council.

Horizons treasurer then provided those present with financial report for the year which was adopted as an accurate account.

Elections were carried out of office bearers and Horizons management committee. In addition to lasts years' committee, Horizons were happy to welcome two new members, Christine McCaffery and Paul Porter.
